Design concept:
There is no life without design. Design lies in the grasp of details. The design of details comes from the perception of life. Interior design takes "home" as its main theme and is inseparable from life. Therefore, before designing, designers must understand and be able to live.
Design comes from life, especially for interiors. The design of every space is not the result of the designer creating it out of thin air. The owner's demands and references to the existing lifestyle all influence the designer's final presentation of the work.
As one of the top 100 new design youth in China in 2020, Zhang Mei feels that the joy of design is that every time she comes into contact with a case, she is experiencing new experiences and feelings. This experience also allows her to continue to grow into a project designer who can take charge of her own role.

[NetEase Home] Can you briefly tell us about your growth (designer career) experience? Was there a difficult stage of depression? How did you get through it at that time? What wealth did that stage leave for you now?
[Zhang Mei] Before becoming a designer, I worked as a designer assistant for three years. Three years of work experience has allowed me to accumulate rich experience in design and grasp of materials and details. As the saying goes, Rome was not built in a day. I believe every designer grows up step by step in this way.
[NetEase Home] What do you think are the differences between Shanghai’s design and other cities across the country that are outstanding in design?
[Zhang Mei] Because of its special economic status, Shanghai has created many international design and building materials exhibitions. In these international exhibitions, we can learn the latest trend information and design concepts, materials and processes; on the other hand, Shanghai Customers will be more receptive to the concept of design, allowing us to perform better in designing.

[NetEase Home] How do you define and understand "China's New Design Youth"? What is the biggest gain for you from participating in the "China Design New Youth Selection"?
[Zhang Mei] I think the “New Youth of Chinese Design” is a group of people who can show the power of cutting-edge local design in China. I believe that with the efforts of our group of “new youth”, China’s design will develop better and better. . Being selected into the "Top 100 New Young Designers in China" represents the recognition of me by experts in the industry, and it also encourages me to pursue the path of design more firmly.

[NetEase Home] In your opinion, what qualities should a good designer have?
[Zhang Mei] In addition to having a good aesthetic foundation and professional knowledge, a good designer should also be an experiencer of life aesthetics and have a sense of responsibility as a designer. In my opinion, an excellent designer knows both astronomy and geography. He has contact and understanding of culture, trends, art, etc., so that when you create, you can bring the client as much as possible into your mind. Present what you want.
[NetEase Home] What is the design concept that you admire, and how do you follow this concept in your design?
[Zhang Mei] I think all design is people-oriented and starts from the heart. All designs should be created around people.

[NetEase Home] What are your personal plans for the future?
[Zhang Mei] The current plan is to produce more outstanding design works and strive for more international exchange opportunities, so as to continuously improve myself.
[NetEase Home] Can you talk about future design trends?
[Zhang Mei] Future design will be intelligentdevelopment direction. Presenting more systematic content in a simple design makes people's lives more convenient and convenient, but it also has rich design connotations.
Having been engaged in interior design for 6 years, from design assistant to chief designer, Zhang Mei still maintains a humble attitude. She hopes to show more of her attitude through design in the future, and her works are worth looking forward to.
